Young At Heart Deeside SC052387 aims to provide a sustainable network of activities, events and support to older people over the age of 50 years in the rural communities of Aboyne, Ballater and Braemar and the surrounding villages by helping reduce social isolation and inequalities by connecting these communities. We love doing intergenerational activities and are delighted to work with Aboyne Academy on this.

Twice weekly Social Spaces in Aboyne and Tarland
We run twice weekly sessions in Aboyne and Tarland for our members. Our Tarland Social Space runs on a Monday from 10-12 in the Commercial Hotel in Tarland. Our Aboyne Social Space runs on a Friday from 10-12 in Aboyne Community Shed from 11th April. At these sessions we chat, laugh, play Board games, have guest speakers and do seated exercise classes. In our Aboyne Social Space sessions we are delighted to have young people from Aboyne Academy volunteer with us. For the last two years we have had a Foundation Apprenticeship student with us too. Both venues are full accessible.

Christmas Cheer 2024 launch
Do you know an older person who would like some Christmas Cheer this Christmas?
Not long until we launch our Christmas Cheer 2024 campaign where we deliver Christmas Cheer to older residents in Aboyne and Tarland areas. We have done this for the last few years hand delivering well over 1300 goodie bags. Our special post boxes where you can pop the name and address of someone who you think would love a goodie bag, hand delivered, full of treats and useful things will be appearing in local shops nearer December. However, drum roll.... you can let us know NOW of any older person you know in the area who would like to receive one. You can email us NOW on [email protected] with the name and address of the person you would like to receive a goodie bag and we will do all the rest. What could be simpler and what a difference this could make to an older person you know.
